Back to Black

Hey Chic-as!  I just got back from a 9-day trip from one coast to another!  I spent a few days in Philadelphia and nearly a week in San Diego.  The weather was gorgeous in both cities, but especially in San Diego where it was in the mid 80's every day.  Coming back to Wisconsin was very different, but I absolutely love this time of year!  It's chilly enough to take advantage of some amazing fall fashion without having to forsake cuteness for warmth too much!

On my business trips I realized that I was consistently going to black as a staple outfit to look put-together and not have to pack a million different outfits.  There are just so many ways to mix-and-match and accessorize.  Even when you do head-to-toe black like the photo-shoot below, it can still look glamorous, chic, and perfect for a more put-together fall outfit!

Top: TJ Maxx $7
Shoes: Urban Outfitters Kimichi Blue $29.99
Skirt: Forever 21 $10
Necklace: Gift
Rings: Forever 21 (I rarely buy expensive jewelry!) $5 for 5 stackable rings
Watch: Kenneth Cole rose gold plated with crystals - TJ Maxx $60

NY Fashion Week Favs!

It's that time of year again - NY Fashion Week!  Although this blog is dedicated to affordable fashion, I try to inspire myself on deriving from high-fashion looks!  And what better place to look than our top designers showcasing their 2013 trends!

Of course, MOST of the fashions are a little "out there" for every-day wear, but among my favorites are Altuzarra, Jason Wu, and Jenni Kayne - take a look! (All images from WhoWhatWear)

Best Dressed - Met Gala 2012!

I absolutely LOVE events that bring fashion's biggest icons together to show off, take risks, and make us all drool over their lust-worthy sartorial ensembles!  This year's Met Gala brought out some amazing outfits on some amazing stars, and I want to share my favorites!

Ashley Greene looks absolutely stunning in Donna Karan Atelier!  Love that she had loose locks to compliment her flowy, ethereal gown.

Ok, Carey Mulligan takes a big fashion risk here, but pulls it off incredibly, as she dons a disco-esque Prada gown!  Her hair and makeup compliment it perfectly, making it an incredible ensemble from head to toe!

Cate Blanchett looks regal as always, in her feathery mermaid Alexander McQueen gown.  Not everyone could pull off such a "heavy" look, but Ms. Cate does it perfectly by tying in neutral makeup and a glamorous yet simple up-do

I mean, this gal hardly ever has a "miss" when it comes to dressing up....OR down, as her casual looks are to die for as well!  Jessica Alba is a glowing gold goddess in her Michael Kors one-shouldered dress.

The fashion risk-takers are always my favorites!  Kate Bosworth definitely goes for out of the ordinary, with a flapper-inspired Prada outfit.  I just love the ombre dress, and her shoes and tanned gams make the whole thing come together to make a definite fashion statement!  The only thing I would change is her hairstyle - I think loose, retro curls would've made this outfit even better, as would glossy lips instead of matte.

Rooney Mara stuns in Givenchy Haute Couture by Riccardo Risci.  Though she's donning her typical black with a touch of goth, I think this outfit perfectly embodies femininity with the strong individualism she oozes!

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen are the Met Gala 2012's best dressed couple, in my opinion!  Bundchen looks amazing in another Givenchy Haute Couture gown, and Brady pulls off his velvet blazer well...not a feat all men could do!
Hope you enjoyed my top picks for the Met Gala 2012!

Aveda reVISIONed Runway Show

Last week I attended the Aveda Institute reVISIONed to help cheer one of my clients - Milwaukee designer Tessa Koller!  Some of Tessa's best designs were featured on the models for the show, and it was definitely a blast!  Here are some pictures of the events.....photography done by ever-fabulous Meg Thomas!

I wore my fav ASOS jumpsuit which I got a few months back for $30 + always free shipping!  Check out a similar one here.  I rocked some sky-high nude Steve Madden heels from DSW that I got with a coupon for $30, my trusty Kenneth Cole rose gold watch (T.J. Maxx $60) and a bunch of gold bracelets/bangles and a gold locket from consignment shops ($1-$4)
.
Tessa's boyfriend, the designer herself, me, and my friend Joshy!

One of Tessa's most stunning designs of the night!
